Job Description:

BuzzFeed is looking for a Lead Producer to lead the TikTok initiatives on the editorial brands of Cocoa Butter, BuzzFeed Main, Famous Crime Scenes, Bring Me, Pero Like, Apop, and Goodful. You will be overseeing a pod of freelancers, full time producers, and fellowship producers and focusing on cracking new video formats, setting content buckets, and working on new platform releases like lives, commerce, and length. We’re looking for a leader with a keen eye for identifying creative opportunities who can speak authentically to the BuzzFeed audience. A plus if you’re well versed in what makes a video succeed across various social platforms, and how to give teammates guidance and feedback that takes their content to the next level. This role reports to the Executive Director of Editorial Video and is based in Los Angeles.

Job Responsibilities:

• Assist with experiments on emerging platforms to strategize new opportunities for revenue
• Lead a team of 5-6 editorial producers, advising on creative direction, workflow, production support.
• Collaborate with the writing team to utilize them as talent on existing BuzzFeed TikTok accounts.
• Partner with social to collect and digest team performance and output data to inspire future ideation and prove our success.
• Lead brainstorming, selecting, editing, fun and entertaining shortform video content on a platform like TikTok.
• Work with creators and talent residents. Help them identify potential trends and ideas that align with their image and brand.
• Track and identify trends on social platforms to inspire shareable TikTok content, keeping team and org informed of learnings.
• Collaborate with the Supervising Live Producer to assist in editorial live production on accounts.
• Identify when an area of focus isn’t working and pivot.
• Create and produce new formats across BuzzFeed’s biggest TikTok accounts.

Job Requirements/Qualifications:

• Experience or interest in lifestyle content is a plus
• Ability to ideate around livestreams, live-to-tape content, and short form content
• Experience working with and brainstorming around talent
• Experience leading a content team to produce video content for a variety of social platforms with a particular passion for TikTok.
• You are self-motivated, immensely curious, highly adaptable, and able to juggle multiple projects at once
• Experience building production processes and workflows to enable output efficiencies
• A passion for video metrics and the competitive instinct to ideate on your own success
